Sarah Hall Tour

Wisdom Windows (detail) fused panels, Massey College, U of T

Chapel at Beth Tikvah Synagogue
In July my husband Peter and I took a tour of glass art installations designed by one of Canada’s premiere glass artists.  Sarah Hall is an artist I’ve known and admired for a couple of decades.  The Royal Ontario Museum organized a bus tour with Sarah as our host, introducing us to several of her large commissions in the Toronto area, all of which cannot be easily accessed by the public.  We visited Massey College at the U of T, a synagogue, an Anglican church, a Carmelite Catholic church, and an  innovative installation at York University incorporating solar technology.

What a treat to spend the day with Sarah, whose great skill and talent is matched by her generous spirit.  Thanks to Peter, who so ably acted as cameraman for the day, allowing me to drink in the inspiring power of Sarah's work.

Artists of the Limberlost – another great weekend!

Despite excellent summer weather, lots of folks left their lake-side havens to check out the studios along Limberlost Road for the annual Open Studio Weekend.  It’s always a pleasure to welcome visitors who are curious to learn more about art and craft, and eager to see our latest work.  Sales were good, so clearly people liked what they found!

"Which is your favorite?"
We had great support for the Tour from the local media, and we thank them all; Muskoka Life Magazine, The Weekender, Muskoka Magazine, What’s Up Muskoka, and 2 radio stations: The Moose 105.5 Huntsville and CanoeFM 100.9 in Haliburton.  Media support is so important for promoting an event like ours, and we appreciate the enthusiasm they all have for the arts.

Thanks to my guest artists this year, jeweller Vicki Sharp and woodworker/blacksmith, Jim Carter.  Guest artists add dimension and variety to our tour, and I enjoy having them.

Next up:
I’m a guest artist at my good friend Molly Moldovan’s studio on Tallan Lake for the Apsley Studio Tour September 21&22.  I love spending the weekend surrounded by her beautiful paintings.  Our work always to complements each other’s so well.

Then back home for 2 weekends in my own studio again for the Muskoka Autumn Studio Tour: September 28&29 and October 5&6.
I hope to see lots of new and returning visitors this autumn!
