New work for Made in Muskoka Christmas
My island silhouette series is always popular. Here is a load in my smaller kiln, ready to slump. That means they are sitting
on molds, and when heated, will soften and "slump" into the mold,
transforming flat glass into bowls and small plates! Visit madeinmuskokachristmas.com to see work by all the artists participating in this fine craft show in Huntsville, Dec. 12-14.

Autumn Tours
The road to my studio - Bella Lake in the distance |
Now that September is here, I’m ready to focus on my autumn
studio tours. Timed to coincide with
autumn colours, these tours are a great time to enjoy an “up north” get away and
experience the creativity of artists who call this beautiful part of the
province their home.
Molly's Studio |
First up is the Apsley Autumn Studio Tour, September 20
& 21, where I am a guest artist at my good friend Molly Moldovan’s
studio. Her abstract work and my
glass show so beautifully together, and we always look forward to spending
the weekend together, sharing our art with new and returning visitors. The Apsley Tour has some intriguing new
studios this year, and it’s well worth the trip to explore this rugged part of
Ontario known as North Kawartha. I
spent my childhood summers nearby, so doing this tour is always a bit of a trip
“home” for me.
After Apsley, I’m back to my own studio for 2 weekends of
the Muskoka Autumn Studio Tour, now in its 36th year. Come up the Limberlost Road and see 3 great
studios; myself, painter Catherine O’Mara and woodturner Brian Markham. All my work will be on display! September 28 & 28, and October 4 & 5.

maps etc.

Artists of the Limberlost 2014
My studio all set up for the Tour! |
Wow! Another great year for Artists of the Limberlost. The rain brought out the crowds, as hundreds
of curious people and serious art lovers visited our studios again this
year. We don’t have final totals, but approximately
30 original paintings were sold, as well as many bowls, plates, earrings and
sculptures!
We had 2 new studios this year, and with our guest artists a
total of 25 craftspeople and artists were here to meet the public and share
their stories. We all work hard to plan
a quality event and earn the support the community shows us with their
interest, appreciation, and purchases.
And thanks to What’s Up magazine for their full page photo
coverage of the Tour.
If you missed our Open Studio Weekend, I'm happy to make an appointment for you to come out and see my latest...any weddings or birthdays coming up? Or mark your calendar for the Muskoka Autumn Studio Tour, Sept. 27-28 and Oct. 4-5.
