Artists of the Limberlost August 18 & 19

With less than a week until Artists of theLimberlost Open Studio Weekend, the kilns have been running pretty constantly.  Nothing like a deadline for motivation…
I’m developing some new work, as well as making some favourites, like my “island silhouette” pieces.

I decided to take a moment to shoot a few candid pictures of what my studio looks like in the chaotic last week before the big clean-up.

I’m excited to introduce you to my new guest artist Clay Brown, the Olympic Blacksmith – yes he really is a former Olympic rower!  I’m sure you’ll enjoy his metal garden art and beautiful table bases.  And of course, my friend Vicki Sharp will be back with her popular jewellery as well.

It’s going to be a great tour, and I hope you’ll be able to pay a visit to Artists of the Limberlost this year!

Red Church Gallery Reception

Susan Higgins Glass Design
Molly Moldovan and I had a lovely day Saturday at the reception for our exhibit at the Red Church Gallery in Coe Hill.  Jazz standards performed by Janet Whiteway created a great atmosphere, and the gallery looked wonderful, filled with colour and light.  The display shelves build with birch branch frames complimented my glass pieces beautifully.

Many new people were introduced to our work, and we hope to see them during the Apsley Studio Tour on September 15 & 16.  Thanks to Kathleen, Karen, Wendy and Sheena for their hard work setting up and promoting the show.  We wish them every success with the Red Church Gallery.  I feel like this is the beginning of a wonderful chapter in the history of Coe Hill!

Where on earth is Coe Hill?  It’s a tiny village east of Apsley, south of Bancroft, on Hwy. 620.  A lovely little red brick church (next to a wonderful restaurant, The Hideaway) has been turned into a gallery, and my good friend abstract painter Molly Moldovan and I are pleased to exhibit together on the August long weekend.  Join us for a reception with live music Saturday August 4 from 1 to 3 pm.  Exhibit continues for the long weekend.

August 18 & 19
My studio tour season kicks off with Artists of the Limberlost Muskoka’s Summer studio tour.  The kilns are firing as I prepare new work to share.  I’ll be joined again this year by guest artist jewellery maker Vicki Sharp.  A new guest, artistic blacksmith Clay Brown, will display his garden ornaments and other creations outdoors.
